The English Indoor Rowing Championships attracts more than 400 competitors of all standards from across the country and further afield. The event has been run by Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club every year since 1998, and is known for its friendly atmosphere. We offer events for men and women, lightweight and not-so-lightweight, racing over 2000m and 500m, and for juniors aged 12 to 15 in timed races. As well as the individual events, there are races for teams of 4 people over 3000m.
The event has established itself as one of the major competitions in the national, and international, indoor rowing calendar. Over the years, many personal bests and several national and world records have been set at the English Indoor Rowing Championships. In 2013 Gill Prescott (Durham ARC) clocked 7:21.1 to set a new world record for Women 55–59. The fastest man and woman in 2013 were Mark Roberts (6:05.8) and Anna Lewis (7:14.5).
